An incredible story of strength and survival

Recent widow and breast cancer survivor Kat goes to the mountains to find solace and consider her next steps in her life. She could never have imagined the horrific events that would occur. Malcolm goes to the mountains to help his newly adopted son adjust to life in America .He never thought his Special Forces skills would be needed to save the lives of his new friends. Scott and Lily go on their annual father daughter summer trip to the mountains. They never expected to be separated by a raging forest fire. Together these characters show us what strength, determination and love can do.

My thoughts and feelings:

Rebecca Hodge did a wonderful job on her debut novel of creating an emotional atmosphere around the very realistic scenario of a quickly spreading forest fire.

I really enjoyed that each character had their own history and individual issues that they were dealing with. Despite their different ages and unique backgrounds, they came together and did what was necessary to survive.

The different background stories and circumstances surrounding each character provides material that a broad range of audiences can relate to. There's a little bit of something for everybody in this book.

I loved every page of this book and highly recommend it!

Favorite quotes:

“The hardest choices to make are the ones that have big risks regardless of what you do.”

"It is not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves. "

"Perhaps faith in fairy tales wasn't always foolish."

Expected Publication date: February 2020
