The Candy Mafia by Lavie Tidhar

A wonderful Middle Grade mystery that kids and adults will enjoy!

Synopsis: This book is an interesting spin on Prohibition, where candy is illegal instead of alcohol, and children are Candy Mafia bosses!

12-year-old Nelle is a private dectective, asked to help find a missing teddy bear. But then a kid goes missing and Nelle discovers that the teddy and the missing child may be linked to the closing of the famous Farnsworth Chocolate Factory and the candy prohibition!

Expected publication date: 1 Sept 2020

My thoughts/feelings: This book is the absolute most fun MG! I read it so quickly, not just because it's MG length but because it was so entertaining! I did not want to stop reading until the case was solved! I highly recommend this one. I think it would be a great one for kids to read themselves, or to read together with an adult! Everyone can enjoy this book.

Favorite Quotes: When in doubt, ask the librarian.

I know things aren't always fair, but they ought to be.

Life wasn’t fair...but it ought to be.

It may have started off as just a game, but growing up was serious business - and so was candy.

Candy is happiness.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Peachtree Publishing Company for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
